Indifference Means Joining the Club

The owner of the Super Valu store on Davie Street is a member of the Hells Angels. His name is Ross Mclellan.

Whether he was financed by this biker gang to purchase this Super Valu franchise and is now syphoning profits back to this gang is not known. But that he participates with full member status in the activities of this murky organization certainly may lead any reasonable person to suspect a connection between this Super Valu store and the fortunes of the biker gang.

As a resident of the west end and one who is already exasperated with a host of social ills manifest in our society, I am dismayed that this individual has been operating with impunity right here in our neighbourhood. What precisely happened to our oft vaunted community values?

By patronizing this location we offer our tacit support of the activities of this group. Drug dealing, prostitution, bullying and murder all contribute to their collective curriculum vitae.

And notice below just some of the brand names being showcased on the shelves of this store, the corporate owners of which having shown absolute indifference to the fact that they are trading with a member of the Hells Angels. So much for their family values.

And which complicit banker is receiving the deposits from this shadowy owner? And do the employees have a choice here? Can they afford to do the noble thing and forfeit their paycheques?

And as to why there hasn’t been more of an uproar and why the common media hasn’t called for a boycott earlier, all these questions can perhaps be answered with an - all together now! Voices uplifted please, for a resounding rendition of that old banal standard -‘Ka-ching! Ka-Ching! It's more money we're making! Ka-Ching Ka-Ching!’

A PERSONAL ANECDOTE
Not too long ago, I discovered from my balcony a young lad laying prone on the grass in the front yard. Worried, I attended to him and found him semi-conscious and unable to walk, his mouth frothing. I called upon my neighbour, Bruce, to help me get the boy of about 12 into his van and drive him to the hospital. While Bruce and I were hauling the kid into the van, a male teenager came strolling up to us and after prodding confessed that the boy had been drinking and was stoned on cocaine. It was a known fact about town the Hells Angels were responsible for the hard drugs which had been arriving of late.

Bruce drove the child to the emergency ward where the overdosing boy had his stomach pumped. We were informed later that had the child not gotten there when he did it is likely he would not have survived. His life's little window would have closed about 15 minutes more of laying there on the grass, abandoned by his frightened friends.

The Hells Angels in that neck of B.C. are owners of hotels, handlers of the strippers, and have been muscling into the pot growing business, once the territory of the aging hippies and pacifist draft dodgers who still populate that area.

While the RCMP are handing out speeding tickets and following cars from pubs to snare an impaired driver, the criminal gang goes about its narcotic peddling affairs unfettered. And some day soon a 12 year old will have his lights put out for not getting to an emergency ward on time.

It is time to boycott all businesses owned by all organized crime groups including the Hells Angels and the Big Circle Boys.
These stupid "Support" shirts and other gear merely perpetuate the aura of the Hells Angels. I would sooner use their support gear to wipe my butt.
As for oberon0002's comments that people change - the bottom line is that these leopards do not change their spots because the money from drugs and poisoning our streets is too lucrative. East Hastings continues to degenerate because of organized crime.
It is time for the Federal Government to enact toughter RICO type legislation so their illegitimate assets mixed with their supposedly legitimate money can be seized.
The biggest crystal meth cooks are associated to these thugs and it is time to shut their activities down and put these people in jail for LONG LONG TIME!

Kudos to you for exposing the Hell's Angels factor at the Super Valu store.

Kudos to you for bringing to light the Hell's Angels presence at the Super Valu on Davie St! The only way to make a stand against them is to boycott the store. Luckily for us, we have many choices as to where to spend our hard earned dollars, besides, the Super Valu has lost many loyal customers with their rampant and blatant overpricing! The store is probably useful to the owner for the purposes of laundering money.

The comments made by oberon0002 simply show that that he/she has a biker mentality and is therefore a part of the problem not a part of the solution. By shopping at a store known to be owned by a member of the Hell's Angels is to fully support this despicable organization and their continued bullying of society and communities such as the West End. Thankfully everyone has a choice of where to shop, what will your choice be?

one more thought....why is anger coming toward a business owner and not toward our legal system which is clearly at fault...if this super valu was guilty of wrong doing surely the almight vancouver police could crack this case and it wouldn't be left to some nickle and dime bulls**t online coloumnist.

lest we forget innocent until proven guilty

thanks for this opportunity to comment....

nairb missed the point- an outlaw motorcycle gang member owns the Super Valu and tries to appear legitimate. The line of innocent before guilty was an interesting line - it means these people have not been caught yet. As for his comment about the VPD it is the usual cynical comment. The effort by the columnist is to be commended and all stores, bars and so on owned by organized crime should be boycotted.

Congratulations! Don't let this story fade away, keep the pressure on and hit the Hells Angels where it hurts, right in the pocket book!
Western Grocers aka Westfair Foods are behind The Real Canadian Superstore, Extra Foods, Super Valu and Loblaws amoung others. Their corporate heads are seriously at fault on their lack of screening and background checks on whom is on the receiving end of a franchise. This particular store should most certainly be bocotted, but then any store selling the Presidents Choice label should be as well. Western Grocers indifference to the fact that a known Hells Angels member owns one of their stores is tantamount to them supporting the gang activities of the Hells Angels.

The "none" said what about people doing home invasions. These people are are doing their home invasions to get money for their dope that the bikers are selling through their criminal organization.
By the way a number of Hells Angels lawyers admit they are a criminal organization. As for the threat about court I would hope "none" actually developed enough to start walking upright and used a spell checker.

I have to actually laugh at loud at most of the posters ignorance and complete lack of knowledge of how the real world works (maybe they all live in a fantasy world) and also yours dear writer. First please if your going to write/post stories/fiction you should do research. You do remember how to do that right? The owner of the store has owned it years before joining the H.A. and receiving full colors. I think you need to clarify that point.
Secondly while I agree that there appears(not proven in court yet) that the H.A. 'runs' alot of the drugs into Vancouver, it is sheer idiocy to think that there are not tens or hundreds of others waiting in the wings to move in and supply illegal drugs themselves. Be forewarned the as "bad" as you think the H.A. are these others are much much worse. I would like to add that I do not support or condone any actions by the H.A. or indeed any organization/club that are accused of illegal activities. What I do support is the belief of innocent until convicted by a court of law.

Well, that would explain a lot of things.

Their security is really gruff, and suspects thievery even when you are a regular customer, even goes so far as to make threats. The cashiers seem helpless and really really glum. Most of the staff working there seems like they don't want to be there, even at all. We have now called the management of this store and explained as to why we will no longer be shopping there - I won't be paying 8.99 for small a box of cereal just so some HA members can launder their money thanks.

It's humorous how the very organization that keeps the people that sleep on the surrounding streets supplied with drugs could be so blatantly wrong in their assumptions of who those people actually may be.

Sincerely,

The affluent thief.

(No longer a SuperValu customer.)

PS. Don't clench money in your hand, it looks like you're stealing.
