This American political heavyweight will be renting offices and employing nine people full time to fleece Bay Street donors and help fund Christian activists’ campaigns to become candidates for the federal Conservative Party.
Given that the passing of same-sex marriage legislation is likely now to be stalled until next autumn, this political maneuver of an American lobby group is craftily timed. With a minority government wobbling on the fringes of a political abyss and its spendthrift leader embroiled in corruption charges the current Canadian government is an easy target for shotgunning broad accusations of moral bankruptcy. The situation bodes well for Focus on the Family’s version of Christian righteousness when played alongside the dismal hymns of ancient Liberal regimes.
